The Finishing Touches at The Cour du Baron Residences

Returning to Les Bordes, I am reminded why this estate is considered one of the most exclusive destinations in the world. Famous for its stunning Robert Von Hagge-designed golf course, consistently ranked among the top three courses in Europe, Les Bordes offers a unique blend of privacy, luxury, and natural beauty. Set amidst the breathtaking landscape of the Loire Valley, this estate is a haven for families & individuals seeking tranquillity and refinement.

This trip was focused on the installation of a client’s home, transforming the space from an empty shell into a fully furnished residence, ready for the family to move in and enjoy the summer. Having been involved in the design process from the start, it was immensely satisfying to return to oversee this final phase. The challenge in such an exclusive estate is balancing our need to work efficiently with the requirement for absolute discretion. Les Bordes is home to some of the world’s most
discerning individuals, so we had to ensure that every detail of the installation was handled with the utmost care while remaining unobtrusive.

Our team managed everything from the delivery of furnishings to the placement of bespoke pieces, working quietly in the background to ensure the property was ready for the client’s arrival. Throughout the process, the estate management was incredibly supportive, helping us coordinate access and maintain the privacy that Les Bordes is so well known for.

“It’s impossible to ignore the natural beauty of Les Bordes”

Being based in the Loire Valley for the installation also provided a wonderful opportunity to experience the region’s rich cultural and architectural heritage. I stayed in the nearby town of Beaugency, a charming riverside spot known for its medieval streets and the impressive Château Dunois. The town’s quiet squares, stone bridges, and beautifully preserved buildings offered a refreshing contrast to the intensity of the installation work.

Of course, no visit to the Loire Valley is complete without a trip to the Château de Chambord. Its grandeur and architectural detail, set within vast parklands, is a reminder of the timeless influence of French art and design. The château’s mix of intricate stonework and sweeping spaces felt especially relevant as we worked on installing our own carefully crafted pieces within the client’s home.

While the cultural excursions were certainly a highlight, it’s impossible to ignore the natural beauty of Les Bordes itself. The estate is set within the rolling woodlands of the Sologne Forest, with views that stretch over the Old Course and beyond. The landscape around Les Bordes is both peaceful and dramatic, offering the perfect backdrop for the luxurious homes that dot the estate. It’s easy to see why this location appeals so strongly to those looking for privacy and exclusivity, while still being close to some of France’s most beautiful historic sites.

After two weeks of careful work, the home was fully installed and ready for the family’s arrival. From furniture placement to the final finishing touches, everything came together as envisioned. There’s a deep sense of accomplishment in seeing the project fully realised, knowing that every detail has been considered and that the home is ready for immediate use. The family’s delight was the ultimate reward—they arrived ready to enjoy the season, surrounded by the comfort and elegance we had created for them.

“The Loire Valley, with its rich history, stunning architecture, and beautiful landscapes, is a constant source of inspiration.”

Working at Les Bordes always reminds me how special it is to be part of these projects.
